end of semester thoughts

Though the end of the semester officially ended a week ago, I somehow lucked out and have been home for a little over a week and a half now. I’ve been using the downtime to ponder some thoughts as I think over this past semester and look forward to the next.

I am so grateful for amazing friendships I’ve made. I never thought I would have made the sweet friends I have now. As much as I love my friends here at home, I realized how important it is to have friendships with people with the same passion and drive you do and for that, I am eternally grateful for the girls God has placed into my life this semester. Proverbs 27:9 says it best: “Ointment and perfume delight the heart, And the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel.” (NKJV)

My transition into college life has been relatively easy as well. Many of my classes did not have much homework invovled, but there were weekends I had to skip out on fun activities because of the amount of studying I would have to do. Though that wasn’t fun at the time, I am grateful I have that discernment for decisions like that. Taking classes at my local community college was helpful in managing my time, but the difference between a residental university and a small two year school is way different than I thought it would be. I have defitinley learned the importance of keeping a planner haha.

This year has not been without it’s bigger challenges, though. I’ve sort of been living off the verse Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” It relates to two things that have happened/been happening in my life right now. The first, a friendship that has ended this semester. Though I prefer not to get too much into it, it has been bitter-sweet for several reasons. The next is trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I was torn between what I wanted to do and what I felt would be smartest to do, though I’ve decided to go with what makes me happiest, which is History. I’m more excited about that then I was with my original plan of Human Resource Management.

I’m so thankful for the experiences I’ve had, good and bad, to help guide the decisions I make as we all venture into the new year.

With Love,
